StudentOS AI
Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and [TODO: Legal entity name] covering your use of StudentOS AI. Please read them — they include a limitation of liability and a section on how disputes are resolved.

1. Accepting these terms
By creating an account or using StudentOS AI (the “Service”) you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you are using the Service on behalf of a school, department or other organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it, and “you” means that organisation. Where a signed agreement exists between us and your institution, that agreement governs and overrides these Terms to the extent they conflict.
2. Who may use the Service
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the agreement and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of it.
- You must provide accurate account information and keep it current.
- You are responsible for everything that happens under your account and for keeping your password confidential. Tell us promptly at [TODO: [email protected]] if you suspect unauthorised access.
3. What the Service is — and is not
StudentOS AI is a study and planning tool. It reads syllabi you upload, builds a gradebook from what you enter, ranks your work, schedules study time and generates practice material.
It is not an official record and not academic advice. Grades, projections and risk indicators shown here are calculations based on information you supply. They are not issued by your institution and may differ from your official standing. Your syllabus, your instructor and your registrar are always authoritative. See the Disclaimer.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you upload or create — syllabi, notes, grades, and your messages to the AI features (“Your Content”).
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, copy, transmit, display and process Your Content strictly to operate and improve the Service for you. This licence exists so we can technically run the product; it does not let us publish Your Content or use it for advertising. It ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in routine backups that expire on their own schedule.
You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload. Course materials are frequently your institution’s or your instructor’s copyright — uploading them for your own private study is normally fine, but you are responsible for making sure your use is permitted.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to cheat, or in any way that breaches your institution’s academic-integrity rules. Generated practice questions and tutoring are study aids; submitting AI output as your own work, or using the Service during an assessment where it is not permitted, is your responsibility and may be academic misconduct.
- Upload unlawful, infringing, malicious or harmful content.
- Attempt to access another user’s account or data, probe or bypass our security, or disrupt the Service.
- Scrape the Service, resell it, or use automated means to extract data at scale.
- Reverse engineer the Service except where that restriction is unenforceable by law.
- Use the AI features to generate content that is illegal, harassing, or that attempts to extract another person’s personal information.
6. AI features
The Service uses third-party AI models. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or misleading, and the same question can produce different answers on different occasions. We do not warrant that AI output is correct.
The Service is designed not to promise a grade outcome — it states what a target mathematically requires and whether it is still reachable. Nothing it says is a guarantee of any academic result.
Usage is subject to fair-use limits and per-workspace quotas. We may rate-limit, queue or suspend AI features to keep the Service available.
7. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of it. For a material reduction in functionality that affects a paid plan, we will give reasonable advance notice and, where appropriate, a pro-rata refund as set out in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
8. Paid plans
The Service is currently offered free of charge. If we introduce paid plans, the Billing Terms and Refund & Cancellation Policy will apply, and we will not begin charging an existing account without clear advance notice and your explicit agreement.
9. Our intellectual property
The Service — its software, design, text, logos and the StudentOS AI name — belongs to [TODO: Legal entity name] and its licensors. These Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service; they transfer no ownership. See the Copyright & IP Policy.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or if continuing would create a security or legal risk. Where practical we will give notice and an opportunity to fix the problem first.
On termination your licence to use the Service ends. Sections 4 (your licence grant, for backups), 9, 11, 12, 13 and 14 survive.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any calculation, projection or AI output will be accurate.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, [TODO: Legal entity name] will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or academic opportunity — including any grade, credit, standing, scholarship or admission outcome — arising from or relating to your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars (US$100).
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless [TODO: Legal entity name] and its officers, employees and contractors from any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms — except to the extent it results from our own wrongdoing.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [TODO: State], United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in [TODO: County, State], and each of us waives any objection to venue there.
Before filing anything, please email [TODO: [email protected]] and give us 30 days to try to resolve the problem informally. Most disputes can be settled that way.
15. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the policies they link to are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
- Severability. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- No waiver. Not enforcing a provision once does not waive it.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- Changes. We may update these Terms and will change the “Last updated” date. For material changes we will give notice in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service afterwards means you accept them.
